HERON is a recording artist, songwriter, producer and mix engineer from the UK. After releasing two limited edition double B sided 7" singles on Cracked Analogue, HERON was signed to HUT RECORDINGS (Virgin/EMI). Having already written, produced, performed and mixed his debut album THE BROWN ROOM alone in his own studio on an 8-Track recorder, mastering engineer Tim Young at Metropolis was chosen in a bid to make it sound incrementally less like a long lost psychedelic bootleg from a parallel universe and fit for human consumption. It was released to critical acclaim in 2002 including Album Of The Week in The Sunday Times Magazine.
His follow up album HERON vs HERON was set for release in April 2004. However, due to the sudden closure of HUT RECORDINGS only months before the albums release date, it was postponed until 2009 when it was finally released through Cracked Analogue.
After a long absence from releasing music publicly, Heron returned in 2020 producing UK newcomer Cathy Jain (Yala! Records). Her debut single 'I See Us In Heaven' dropped while she was just 15 years of age and made it to BBC Radio One within weeks of its release. Three singles later, she signed to Yala! who immediately re-released 'Cool Kid'. It was awarded Record Of The Week on Radio One, play-listed on NME Best New Tracks and Spotify's New Music Friday.
HERON co-wrote, produced, mixed and played on all of Cathy's first four singles, who has since exploded on to the scene in the UK and received widespread critical acclaim from the music press.
